The Rottingdean Village Fair
The Rottingdean Village Fair is a much loved annual celebration that brings villagers and visitors together for a day of fun and festivities. Held every year on the green beside our famous duck pond, in the heart of our historic little village, this delightful and nostalgic event offers something for everyone in a day packed with fun and merriment.
As you explore the Fair, you'll discover a kaleidoscope of stalls which brim with different treasures. There's handicrafts and artworks, bric-a-brac and vintage, and a variety of delectable treats just waiting to be discovered!
All our most important local organisations are also there too, raising money in various inventive and amusing ways. You can test your skills at whimsical games, or try your luck in the hope of taking home a prize.
You can also eat, drink and be merry at one of our fantastic food and beverage stalls - or just simply sit back and enjoy some of the diverse and vibrant array of entertainments on offer. It’s a truly special day that’s guaranteed to spark joy in the hearts of young and old alike.
But, beyond the laughter and the lively banter, lies a deeper purpose too. The profits of the fair are a vital support for an array of local charities and good causes. Each year, the beneficiaries change, but our commitment to nurturing the community remains steadfast.
We look forward to welcoming you on 1st August 2026, and we'll be releasing more details on this website next year. In the meantime, put the date in your diary now - so you'll be sure not to miss it!

Our History
Rottingdean has always been known to throw a great party! Our village’s love of celebration stretches back centuries — the first recorded festivity in 1789 saw fireworks burst across the sky in honour of King George III’s recovery, filling the streets with joy and wonder.
Fast-forward to 1925, and the first Rottingdean Village Fair was born at The Elms, opened with flair by the Prime Minister’s wife, Mrs. Stanley Baldwin. Since then, the Fair has become a cherished tradition — a whirl of fun, music, and community spirit — all while raising funds that keep Rottingdean thriving, from restoring the Windmill’s sails to supporting our Church, Schools, and many local charities and good causes.
Our Last Event

The primary focus of the report is last year's highly successful event, along with all the most important financial headlines and the beneficiaries we have been able to support as a result.
